Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation exercises: Which is best for me?
I have determined that the subtle mind exercises are more beneficial to me because it allows me to less more proactive in stressful situations and less reactive. I find that I am a more patient person when I am faced with situations where losing my cool would not be helpful. I find that it also helps me when I'm dealing with individuals that I don't like or care to be around. The loving kindness practice sessions encourage me to be a more because I truly believe that you get what you put out and if you release negativity into the world you will receive it back. Some people perceive this as me being nonchalant but I am simply actively choosing which things, people and situations that warrant a reaction and which that do not. The subtle mind exercises really come in handy when my kids come home from school and they are both amped up and raring to go and I am ready to settle down. I have two kid who could not be more different so they each warrant different approaches when motivating them to settle down to accomplish homework or when motivating them to get ready to attend their different activities. This can sometimes be the most stressful time of my day since its the period where I am most mentally and physically stressed. Getting upset and lashing out only makes things worse so it is important that I clear my mind to stay focused on the tasks at hand all while keeping a positive attitude so that my children don't feed off of any negativity that I may have.
